Celebrate We Gullah Geechee: Book Launch, Mural Unveiling, Arts & Literacy

BEE Collective and Tri-County Play Collaborative present Celebrate We Gullah Geechee: Book Launch, Mural Unveiling, Arts & Literacy! in honor of Black Children’s Book Week and closing out Black History Month at Nsoromma House, located at 2021 Cosgrove Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina.
All ages are welcome, youth and adults. Admission is free, but registration is suggested, as space is limited.
The event’s featured 2026 Literary Artist-in-Residence, Yvette R. Murray, is an author and storyteller whose work centers Gullah Geechee heritage and intergenerational connection. Her new book, Celebrate We Gullah Geechee, affirms culture, language, and ancestral knowledge through storytelling designed to uplift young readers and families.
The free public event will include:
- Official book launch and author reading
- Community mural unveiling
- Arts and literacy activities for youth
- Intergenerational storytelling and dialogue
